Big-name QBs set to invade Columbus

Before some of the biggest names in the nation raid Ohio State’s campus for the Nike Football Training Camp on Sunday, some of the best quarterbacks in the country will be in Columbus on Saturday.

The day belongs to the Elite 11 super regional, with some pretty heavy hitters stepping to the plate.

Here’s a quick look at some of the more well-known juniors ready to compete for a spot in the nationally televised finals on ESPN.

Drew Barker: The 6-foot-4, 205-pound Barker never picked up an Ohio State offer, although the two flirted for a long time. An ESPN 150 junior, Barker threw for 2,072 yards, rushed for 1,455 yards and had a combined 40 touchdowns.

J.J. Cosentino: A Florida State commit out of Pittsburgh, the 6-5, 220-pound Cosentino passed for 553 yards and three touchdowns last season. Cosentino missed most of his sophomore season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Brandon Dawkins: The 6-4, 199-pound Dawkins is blowing up all over the nation after a junior season where he was 174-of-283 for 2,135 yards with 17 touchdowns. He also rushed 88 times for 486 yards and seven scores.

Chris Durkin: The 6-4, 234-pound Durkin is committed to Michigan State after a junior season where he passed for 1,375 yards and 12 touchdowns and rushed for 1,103 yards and 11 scores.

Brandon Harris: The 6-2, 186-pound Harris is on an unofficial visit to Ohio State and has the Buckeyes in his final seven. The Panthers advanced to the quarterfinals last season for the first time since 1994 in Harris’ first year as a starter. He threw for 2,673 yards and 26 touchdowns and ran for 677 yards and 12 touchdowns. He has yet to register for the Elite 11 but has tweeted that he will.

Caleb Henderson: Another ESPN 150 quarterback who flirted with Ohio State, the 6-3, 217-pound Henderson was 210-of-327 for 2,435 yards and 19 touchdowns as a junior. He also rushed for 453 yards and nine scores.

DeShone Kizer: The 6-5, 208-pound Kizer has long coveted an Ohio State offer. He has some big names after him following a junior year where he led Toledo Central Catholic to a Division II state title. Last season, Kizer was 108-of-179 for 1,611 yards and threw 17 touchdown passes against just two interceptions. He also ran the ball 65 times for 454 yards and scored eight touchdowns.

Chase Litton: A 6-5, 191-pound junior out of Tampa, Fla., Litton was 134-of-236 for 2,056 yards and 10 touchdowns last season. He also rushed for 188 yards and two scores.

Clayton Thorson: The 6-4, 195-pound Thorson is a Northwestern commit. He was 32-of-44 for 401 yards with seven touchdowns last season. As a receiver he caught 38 passes for 578 yards with four more scores after splitting time at quarterback with Johnny Peltz.

Darius Wade: Another quarterback who had interest from the Buckeyes, the 6-foot-1, 186-pound Wade passed for 2,275 yards and 27 touchdowns and rushed for 546 yards and seven more scores last season. He is a Boston College commit.

Sean White: The 6-1, 199-pound White has more than 15 offers on the table right now after a junior season where he was 183-of-264 for 3,430 yards and 40 touchdowns. He has transferred from one Florida school to another, going from Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna to Ft. Lauderdale University School.
