Urban Meyer to publish first book this fall

Earlier this year, Urban Meyer joined Alabama coach Nick Saban as the only two college football coaches to win national championships at multiple schools. Soon he'll be joining Saban on a shelf in your local bookstore with some insights on how he got there.

Penguin Press announced plans this week to publish a new book from Ohio State's championship-winning coach this fall. It will be called "Above the Line: Lessons in Leadership and Life from a Championship Season." The book, written with Wayne Coffey, will include stories from Meyer's past championship seasons at Florida, but will focus mostly on the Buckeyes' unexpected 14-1 run to a title in the inaugural College Football Playoff. After a loss in the second week of the regular season, Meyer's team ran off 13 straight wins despite replacing two starting quarterbacks during the course of the year.

"The time was right for this book," Meyer said in a press release Monday. "Last season’s Ohio State team was so inspiring to me, especially in the way it handled adversity, that I truly believed it offered lessons that could have value to a wider audience."

Meyer decided to wait until winning his third title to share his thoughts on what it takes to win. Saban published his book after winning a title at LSU and then went on to win three more with the Crimson Tide.

The book is scheduled to come out Oct. 27, just in time for Ohio State's lone bye weekend of the 2015 season.
