In-state leader for ESPN 150 ATH Parrish
By Kipp Adams
Georgia Tech assistant Andy McCollum was at Brooks County on Wednesday to check on ESPN 150 athlete Malkom Parrish (Quitman, Ga./Brooks County).
The Yellow Jackets also had Parrish on campus last weekend, his second time on The Flats this spring. Being the only program to get the No. 70 prospect in the country on campus has put head coach Paul Johnson and his staff in great shape early for Parrish.
“Georgia Tech is my leader,” Parrish said. “The relationship I have with the staff at Georgia Tech and being able to see them gives them an edge over other schools right now. I love the coaching staff, and every time I go up there it feels like home. Education wise it is great, and I like the way the team gets after it.”
With the ability to play cornerback on defense or several positions on offense, Parrish’s versatility has led to offers from Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, North Carolina, Oregon and Tennessee. Right now, things are shaping up to be an in-state battle for the 5-foot-10, 185-pound athlete.
“Georgia and Georgia Tech are running neck and neck as far as how hard they are recruiting me,” Parrish said. “Georgia is my No. 2 school right now, and I plan to visit Athens sometime this summer before I make my decision.”
