Oregon Ducks sizing up Midwest tight end
By Jared Shanker
CLEVES, Ohio -- Oregon has looked to the Midwest for receivers the last few seasons, and the Ducks have preliminary interest in another regional pass catcher.
Tight end Denzel Tolliver (Hillside, Ill./Proviso West), who holds an early Northern Illinois offer, is hearing from the Oregon staff.
“I got a whole bunch of letters from Oregon, like 30,” Tolliver said. “If I end up going to Oregon I’d love it I guess. Lots of jerseys, the atmosphere and Nike’s on the campus.”
In the 2012 class, the Ducks signed tight end Pharoah Brown and receiver Dwayne Stanford from the Midwest.
Ball State, Boston College, Michigan State and Minnesota are showing interest in Tolliver, too. The Spartans seem to be most interested in the 6-foot-4, 225-pound Tolliver.
“I recently seen them at the school and they talked to me and want me to come to a junior day and size me up and want me to play at Michigan State,” he said.
