Cal LB commit Ragin nabs dream offer
By Brandon Oliver
After decommitting from BYU in favor of the Cal Bears last week, Johnny Ragin III (Wilsonville, Ore./Wilsonville) might not be done with recruiting just yet.
The four-star linebacker has been about as patient as possible when it comes waiting on an offer from his dream school. On Tuesday, his patience paid off when the in-state Ducks issued him a scholarship offer. Ragin has played it cool so far by downplaying a potential flip to Oregon.
Monday, when asked about the in-home visit with Oregon that was set to take place on Tuesday, Ragin responded via text, "I'm a Bear."
Tuesday the rumored offer finally was made official.
"Yeah they offered," Ragin responded via text message. "I will visit this weekend."
Ragin maintains that he is committed to Cal, and he could remain loyal to the Bears instead of Oregon, which only came calling after missing on a number of other linebacker targets. With Zach Cunningham likely headed to Vanderbilt, Ragin is the next in line on the Ducks' target list, and his pledge would give Oregon another athletic linebacker.
