Derrick Green sets two more officials
By Dave Hooker
It's Virginia Tech versus Ole Miss for Derrick Green's final official visit. However, not landing an official visit from the four-star prospect doesn't mean either team will lose out on him.
The tailback from Richmond (Va.) Hermitage told ESPN via text message on Wednesday that he has scheduled two of his final three official visits, to Auburn for the Georgia game Nov. 10 and to Oregon for the Stanford game Nov. 17.
Seemingly, that would put pressure on Virginia Tech and Ole Miss to secure Green's fifth official visit, which is all that are allowed by the NCAA. Green, however, said he is trying to set up trips to both schools even though one would have to be unofficial, meaning Green would have to pay for his own travel.
"I'm trying to set things up with both," Green stated via text message to ESPN.
Green took an official visit to Tennessee for the Florida game Sept. 14. He has long planned to take an official visit to Michigan for the Michigan State game Oct. 20.
As for Green's latest two teams he has selected for his official visit, they are on opposite sides of success. The Ducks are 6-0. Auburn, once thought to be a quiet leader for Green, is 1-4 with its only win coming in overtime against Louisiana-Monroe.
The four-star Green is rated as the No. 53 prospect in the country, the sixth-best tailback prospect in the nation and the third-best prospect in Virginia. Last week, he ran for 110 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries before being pulled at halftime in Hermitage's 55-6 win.
