Peter Kalambayi used one word to describe his commitment to Stanford.
"Strong," the four-star outside linebacker from Matthews (N.C.) Butler said.
Some were wondering -- and with good reason. The ESPN 300 prospect committed to the Cardinal in June but recently showed interest in Oregon when he took a visit to see the Ducks on Nov. 16.
"Very fun," Kalambayi said of the trip. "Great program there. Very good undergraduate business program, too."
That might have Stanford recruiters just a bit concerned. Kalambayi, who has over a 4.0 grade point average, said he committed to Stanford for its top-notch education. If Oregon can close ground in that department, the Ducks could be a formidable foe for the Cardinal.
Kalambayi, however, maintains that all is status quo in his recruitment. Despite the early commitment, he always wanted to see Oregon's campus up close.
"They've been in my top for like a year," Kalambayi said. "I always intended on visiting them."
Kalambayi said Stanford and Oregon are the only two schools he is considering. He had dozens of scholarship offers.
