With so much action at the linebacker position for the Ducks in the Class of 2013, the news has been hard to keep up with.
The Ducks offered four-star linebackers Trey Johnson (Lawrenceville, Ga./Central Gwinnett) and Zach Cunningham (Pinson, Ala./Pinson Valley) earlier this week and are now staring a possible commitment from a West Coast sleeper right in the face.
Junior college linebacker Joe Walker (Wilmington, Calif./Harbor College) confirmed via text message that he is currently on campus in Eugene. Texas A&M, Syracuse and Duke have all offered the former Palos Verdes (Calif.) High School star, who was a full qualifier out of high school.
Walker has previously visited Texas A&M and Duke with a visit to Syracuse still a possibility.
If things go well this weekend, Walker could put an end to his recruitment sooner than later.
Oregon has yet to offer but Ducks' LB coach Don Pellum visited Walker at home this week and set up the official visit. The feeling is that a good visit could push the Ducks to the top of his list, possibly resulting in a quick commitment from the 6-foot-3, 230-pounder.
Walker will have four years to play three once he signs with a program in a couple of weeks. He plans to enroll in January and be a part of spring football wherever he winds up.
A commitment from the Harbor College star would put the Ducks in a good position moving forward and could be the first domino to fall as the Ducks look to make a big push before signing day.
