Recruiting can be a wild and confusing process for high school athletes, so when offensive lineman Alex Redmond (Los Alamitos, Calif./Los Alamitos) stopped and thought about it, he went with what he called an easy decision.

Tom Hauck for ESPN.comLos Alamitos, Calif., offensive lineman Alex Redmond became the eighth player to commit to Oregon in the Class of 2013 on Monday.
"Oregon is the place I want to be. It was an easy decision really. They are going to do everything they can to make me into the best student and football player I can be" Redmond said.

With scholarship offers from the likes of Washington, Washington State, Boston College and Colorado, Redmond said there were too many positives about Oregon to not commit to the Ducks.

"I like everything about them," Redmond said. "The support they offer their student-athletes is amazing. I couldn't be more excited."

The 6-foot-4, 290-pound Redmond was a standout at the Los Angeles Nike Camp in April and saw his stock rise in the months since then. Once he received an offer from Oregon, Redmond knew that is where he wanted his future to be. After thinking it over between Oregon, Washington and Boston College, the three-star knew it was time to make the call.

With Oregon offensive line coach Steve Greatwood getting ready to head out on vacation, Redmond didn't want to wait any longer to let his future position coach know where things stood.

"I called him and let him know how pumped I was to be able to work under him in my college career. I think it's a perfect fit for me and I can't wait to officially become a Duck," Redmond said.
