Ducks to host three on official visits

9/18/2012

After another quiet recruiting weekend for the Oregon Ducks, things will get turned up a notch this week. The weekend will bring a surprising Arizona team to town for the Pac-12 home opener and the Ducks will host their first uncommitted recruits on official visits.

Oregion is expected to add a fourth offensive line recruit to the 2013 class and they'll have their shot at impressing one of them.

Offensive line prospect Thomas Oser (North Hollywood, Calif./Harvard-Westlake) came on strong this summer and earned offers from coast to coast. The Ducks will get the first shot at impressing the three-star lineman this weekend for his first official visit. Oser is expected to choose from a top three of Oregon, Stanford and Vanderbilt.

After their initial official visit was postponed, twin brothers Tyrell Robinson and Tyree Robinson (San Diego/Lincoln) are expected to be on campus this weekend. Expect the Ducks to put the full-court press on the two-sport stars as Oregon basketball coach Dana Altman will be heavily involved with the pair over the weekend.

This will be the Robinson brothers' first official visit as well, and Oregon hopes to leave them with a lot to think about. In football, the Ducks want both players on the defensive side of the ball, but their versatility would allow the Ducks to put them anywhere they can help the team. On the basketball court, the Robinsons would add much needed depth and athleticism to the Ducks' backcourt.

Last weekend the Ducks hosted a surprise visitor, which could provide a glimpse into the Ducks' defensive line recruiting. Over the years, the Ducks have made a habit of finding hidden gems along the defensive line. The Ducks appear to have found another prospect from off the radar.

Daniel Etuale, a 6-foot-5, 285-pound native of American Samoa, recently relocated to the state of Washington after graduating high school. The Ducks are waiting on him to take his SAT's next month before extending an offer. Oregon State has offered and the Washington Huskies are working to schedule a visit.

It was an up and down weekend for Oregon recruits as Thomas Tyner (Aloha, Ore/Aloha) had a game for the ages. Fellow running back commit Dontre Wilson (DeSoto, Texas/DeSoto) had another standout game with four total touchdowns.

On the flip side, Oregon's two in-state offensive line recruits both were injured Friday night. Evan Voeller (West Linn, Ore./West Linn) suffered a shoulder injury and will be out for the remainder of the season. Oregon's most recent commit, center prospect Doug Brenner (Portland, Ore./Jesuit), went down with an ankle injury but it appears as if he will be back within a week or two.
