The week started with one head-scratching moment, but it could not have ended any better for Oklahoma on the recruiting trail.
In an odd and almost unprecedented move, OU coaches postponed a previously planned junior day on Saturday so they could instead focus on the eight official visitors for the 2013 class.

Certain weekends during the football season stand out as blatant big-time recruiting opportunities. Oklahoma is no stranger to that.
But after the season, there are always one or two weekends that set themselves apart heading into national signing day. The Sooners are having one of those this weekend.

It feels like the Sooners have been playing catchup for most of the year on the recruiting trail. The OU coaches have preached patience with the class offers, and it has put OU in a tough spot.
This time, though, it wasn’t OU’s fault. With the Sooners playing Saturday at TCU, they couldn’t utilize the first week of in-home visits, so they will have to make up some ground.
OU will get started in a hurry. Three big names scheduled to have in-home visits are ESPN 150 defensive tackle Maquedius Bain (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./University School), ESPN 150 safety Tahaan Goodman (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif./Ranch Cucamonga) and ESPN 300 athlete and Florida State commit Adrian Baker (Hollywood, Fla./Chaminade-Madonna).

Call it a sign of the times. At last weekend’s Nike Football Training Camp event in Irving, Texas, there were a lot of recruits interested in Oklahoma but not necessarily that many prospects that have offers from the Sooners.
Sunday marks the second NFTC event, this time at Cerritos College in Los Angeles. And though it is 1,350 miles to go from Norman, Okla., to Los Angeles, this weekend arguably brings more impact when it comes to the OU recruiting scene.
Here are some prospects to watch:

• Wide receiver isn’t looking like a major position of need for Oklahoma’s 2013 class but that hasn't stopped OU wide receivers coach Jay Norvell from offering several top wide outs from across the country. Through Twitter.
