Playoff: '04 Oklahoma vs. '01 Nebraska
By Jake Trotter
The Sooners put a second team into the semifinals Tuesday, as '08 Oklahoma advanced in our Big 12 BCS-era 16-team playoff. The Sooners will attempt to send another team past the second round Wednesday, as '04 Oklahoma will meet '01 Nebraska.
You can see all the results so far and the bracket here.
Remember, you vote to decide who advances, with the polls closing at 10 p.m. CT tonight.
Losses: at No. 14 Colorado (62-36); No. 1 Miami (37-14, national championship)
Who should advance: Both of these teams got popped when playing for a national championship by ultra-talented opponents. But Nebraska also got popped during the regular season, getting completely overrun by a talented, though flawed, Colorado team that went on to edge Texas in the Big 12 championship.
Crouch had a memorable final season at quarterback on the way to winning the Heisman Trophy. But he didn’t have nearly as much firepower around him as White did. Peterson was almost a 2,000-yard rusher, and Brown, Joseph and Clayton all had long careers in the NFL. The ’04 Sooners were the more talented team and should advance here.
