Barrett said he is getting closer and closer to making a final decision, and a top three could come by next month.
Barrett announced last month, in alphabetical order, Baylor, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, TCU and Texas Tech as his top seven.
“Everything is really good. I’m almost ready to narrow it down,” Barrett said. “I want to have it down before August, so I’m excited about that. I’m looking at the end of July.”
Barrett, a 6-foot-5, 310-pound offensive lineman, is ranked No. 33 among tackles nationally. Scouts define Barrett as a physical, blue-collar lineman who displays “get the job done” effort.
Barrett has an idea of where he wants to go to school, but he’s continuing to keep all options open. He said he’s looking for a dynamic coaching staff and a school that is strong academically as it is athletically.
“I want to be able to graduate in three years,” Barrett said. “The coaching staff will be big, but I’m looking at the academics, too. Being able to go to a school with great academics is a big deal.”
Barrett has made appearances at several satellite camps in recent days, and he said he’s hoping to take a visit to Ole Miss soon.
