DE Dimarya Mixon, Sooners part ways
By Bob Przybylo
Timing in recruiting is almost everything. Three-star defensive end Dimarya Mixon (Mesquite, Texas/West Mesquite) found that out on Monday night.
Mixon, who is 6-foot-4 and 250 pounds, was told by OU defensive ends coach Bobby Jack Wright the Sooners are full at defensive end and were no longer considering accepting a potential commitment.

That potential commitment likely was coming for the Sooners, Mixon said.
“I probably was going to commit,” Mixon said. “I was going to do it soon. I was thinking sometime like next week or something like that.
"Time to move on.”
It felt like Mixon and OU were a perfect connection. Mixon made an official visit to campus in September when he was still an Arizona State commit. He watched OU’s impressive 63-21 victory against Texas and visited the campus again for OU’s game against Notre Dame.
He decommitted from Arizona State last month, and it appeared the Sooners were the school to beat until last night.
“Coach Wright gave me a call and told me after Bedlam the position is full,” Mixon said. “He didn’t say exactly what happened or who committed or if it was a defensive end, but he said there was no more room.”
That’s not to say Mixon doesn’t still have a strong set of suitors. Mixon said he is most likely taking an unofficial visit to Baylor this weekend and is considering setting up an official visit to Missouri next weekend.
“I’m still talking to a lot of the same schools," he said. "I have a lot of options. I’m keeping my recruiting process open.
“It hasn’t been too bad today. It was a little shocking, but there’s nothing I can do about it.”
Mixon is ranked No. 70 at defensive end and also has made official visits to West Virginia and Arizona State.
