2014 OL Jacob Bragg enjoys OU visit
By Max Olson
ESPN Watch List offensive lineman Jacob Bragg (Nacogdoches, Texas/Nacogdoche) grew up a Longhorns fan, but right now he has little interest in playing his college career at Texas.
The 6-foot-3, 290-pound guard said ever since a UT recruiter visited his school this spring, he’s gotten the feeling he’s not on the coaching staff’s radar. He called that a bit of letdown, but he’s gotten over that slight.
“I’m not a Texas kind of guy,” Bragg said. “The recruiter came down one time and I talked to him a little but he wasn’t that interested. I’ve just had a bad feeling about Texas since then.

“I would probably reconsider it if they talked to me. But right now I’m just interested in people who are interested in me.”
Bragg has taken three unofficial visits this fall to schools that have shown interest. He took in Florida-Texas A&M, Virginia-TCU and attended Oklahoma’s big game against Notre Dame on Saturday.
“It was loud and their crowd was great,” he said. “I was with all the recruits and it was cool. I saw a lot of familiar faces. It was really cold, that was the only thing. Extremely cold.”
After the game, Bragg got to catch up with OU line coach James Patton. The coach didn’t recognize Bragg at first -- he grew his hair out this season -- but the lineman said he enjoyed their conversation.
The trip to Norman was an eye-opening one for Bragg. He could see himself playing for the Sooners someday.
“I’d love to go there,” he said. “It’s a great school, and if they offer me I don’t know how long I could wait before I’d say yes. That would be great.”
The school that’s been sending Bragg the most mail lately has been LSU. He was hoping to get passes for the Alabama game this weekend but was too late. He’s hoping to make a trip to Baton Rouge when the Tigers take on Ole Miss later this season. Bragg would also like to take in another TCU game before the year is over.
As for Texas, it’s not necessarily too late. Would Bragg still have interest in UT if its coaches started showing more interest?
“Most definitely,” he said. “I would definitely reconsider if they started talking to me.”
