Staff predictions: Florida A&M vs. OU

By SoonerNation staff

Oklahoma 49, Florida A&M 3
Unlike UTEP, the Rattlers make all their field goal attempts. All one of them. The Sooners post their second strong defensive effort under Mike Stoops and keep their touchdown-less streak alive. The offense still sputters at times, but looks crisper against a more inferior opponent.

The Sooners start to find a rhythm on offense as Landry Jones and Kenny Stills continue to expand their quarterback-receiver relationship with two touchdown connections and OU's defense forces its first two turnover of the season with leading to a 35-0 half-time lead. The Sooners' young players get involved in the second half as Sterling Shepard and Durron Neal each make the first catches of their career, Blake Bell throws the first touchdown pass of his career and Julian Wilson gets his first interception of his career. All seems right in the world ... at least for a couple of hours.

Last week wasn't time for panic for OU fans. However, if the Sooners cannot be more consistent in their home opener Saturday, it might be time to start worrying. What will be the most intriguing is to see how Landry Jones and his chemistry with all receivers not named Kenny Stills continues to develop. This should be a good showcase for Justin Brown and Trey Metoyer. And if things are really rolling, this would be a great opportunity to see what Sterling Shepard and Durron Neal can do. They got their feet wet last week but were never targeted. They should get some looks Saturday night as Jones throws for at least three touchdowns.
