Young OU offensive lineman standing out

April, 7, 2012
Oklahoma’s interior offensive line could be among the deepest groups Bob Stoops has had in his tenure in Norman, Okla.

Returning starters Ben Habern and Gabe Ikard, two former All-Big 12 selections, have each played guard and center during their careers. And multi-year starter at guard Tyler Evans was solid alongside that duo in 2011.

Yet multiple young interior offensive linemen are making their mark this spring. Adam Shead, who was outstanding in limited duty as a redshirt freshman, has been solid.

“I think he’s the most improved along the offensive line,” Evans said.

With Habern missing the spring with a neck injury, redshirt freshman Nila Kasitati has spent some time at center and he’s making an impression.

“Nila is looking pretty good at center,” Evans said. “I think he’s found himself a home.”
