Oklahoma linebacker Travis Lewis vs. Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III
Despite playing with a broken toe, Lewis leads the Sooners in tackles with 61 and will be counted on to help corral Griffin. If RG3 is able to make big plays with his feet and have consistent success running the ball, the Bears offense becomes a lot more difficult to stop.
Lewis will be counted on to help make Griffin and the Bears one dimensional.
Oklahoma cornerback Jamell Fleming vs. Baylor receiver Kendall Wright
Linebacker Travis Lewis will be needed to contain Baylor's dual-threat quarterback, Robert Griffin III.
Wright is one of the nation’s most explosive receivers in the country but is overshadowed in the Big 12 with Oklahoma State’s Justin Blackmon and OU’s Ryan Broyles grabbing all the headlines. He brings a good combination of acrobatic catches and big play ability.
Fleming is one of the nation’s top cornerbacks and it was easy to see how critical he is to OU’s pass defense when he missed the Texas Tech game. Fleming is a playmaker who has two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and one interception this season.
Oklahoma receiver Jaz Reynolds vs. Baylor cornerbacks Joe Williams and K.J. Morton
With Broyles out for the season with a torn ACL, Reynolds will be counted on to make big plays for OU’s offense. Defensive coordinators will likely turn their attention to Kenny Stills, giving Reynolds more one-on-one opportunities. He’s emerged as a legit No. 3 target for quarterback Landry Jones, scoring four touchdowns in OU’s last three games, but he will have to step up even more with Broyles out.
The Bears will probably give safety help on Stills side of the field meaning Williams or Morton could end up one-on-one with Reynolds depending on the formation. Williams and Morton are sophomore starters on a defense which has allowed a Big 12-high 25 touchdown passes this season.
