ESPN 150 defensive lineman Maquedius Bain (Davie, Fla./University School) has completed his first goal of winning a state championship.
Now the 6-foot-3, 300-pound senior has to figure out his recruitment. He’ll take one big step in that direction with a visit to LSU this weekend.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing the beautiful campus and just having the opportunity to watch how the players and coaches prepare,” Bain said. “When you think about defensive linemen, the first school that comes to mind is LSU because they are the best at developing the position.”
Bain has taken officials to Marshall and Oklahoma all ready and currently says he’s open to anything.
“And Oklahoma was just an awesome trip with a great game. I love the fans there. I like that they really get after it on defense."
Bain will be participating in the Under Armour All-America Game and will get back to his natural position of defensive tackle. This year Bain spent most of his time on the offensive line, where he was a right tackle.
“Quay is such a selfless player, such a great athlete -- he knew that we needed help on the OL and volunteered to do it,” said University School coach Roger Harriott. “That shows you what kind of kid he is. He’s a top recruit on the defensive line and he might have played 20-30 plays there this season.”
Bain has other schools in the picture: He will receive in-home visits from Florida State assistant Odell Haggins and Louisville assistant Clint Hurtt before arriving in Baton Rouge. Last week, LSU assistant Corey Raymond visited with Bain.
