Each week, SoonerNation will rank Oklahoma’s top 10 performers of the season up to this point. After OU’s 69-13 rout of Florida A&M, the power rankings have a new No. 1.
1. RB Damien Williams (Last week: No. 7)
Williams is averaging 13.7 yards per carry through two games, and has already scored five touchdowns. Imagine what he would do with more carries.
2. CB Aaron Colvin (1)
Colvin Island has not been a place for receivers to visit. He’s a big reason why the Sooners rank sixth nationally in pass defense.
3. QB Landry Jones (6)
He hasn’t been perfect. But Jones has been really solid, throwing for 252 yards and two more TDs against FAMU.
4. FB Trey Millard (NR)
Though Millard has just 6 touches in two games, he has been dominant in clearing running lanes for OU's tailbacks.
5. WR Kenny Stills (3)
Stills has emphatically emerged as Jones’ go-to receiver, hauling in more than 100 receiving yards and touchdowns in his first two games.
7. WR Justin Brown (10)
The Penn State transfer is becoming a must-watch every time he returns a punt. Two of his returns and a highlight reel-caliber 51-yard catch directly led to three OU TDs.
8. C Gabe Ikard (4)
A week after struggling, Ikard and the offensive line dominated the Rattlers as OU averaged 8.5 yards on the ground, and allowed Jones to be sacked only once.
9. S Tony Jefferson (5)
A sprained ankle knocked Jefferson out of the game in the first quarter, but he should be healed for OU’s next game against Kansas State in two weeks.
10. DT Jamarkus McFarland (NR)
McFarland was virtually unblockable and finished with two sacks and a QB hurry. It will be interesting to see whether McFarland can keep it up against the uptick in competition.
