Every weekday morning, a member of the SoonerNation gives his take on three things happening in the Sooner sports world.

1. Take your pick. What do you like for all-star events? The Elite 11 QB finals continue through Sunday in Redondo Beach, Calif., featuring OU commit Cody Thomas (Colleyville, Texas/Heritage). The Texas state 7-on-7 tournament championship is this weekend, featuring OU wide receiver commit Austin Bennett (Manvel, Texas/Manvel) in College Station, Texas. And if you want to stay in the state, the National Underclassmen Top 100 Elite Prospect Camp is Sunday and Monday at OU. The event is not coordinated by the Sooners but should feature some of the top prospects in the country.

2. Too early to look at high school schedules? No, of course not. Want to circle a date for in-state battles? Look no further than Sept. 14. That Friday features an Edlam showdown between Edmond North and Edmond Santa Fe with 2014 OU targets quarterback Justice Hansen (Santa Fe) and linebacker Michael Farmer (Edmond North). The night also features a rematch of the 2011 state championship game between Tulsa Union and Broken Arrow. Union lineman Dalton Rodriguez has already committed to OU, while Broken Arrow has several 2013 and 2014 prospects to watch, including quarterback Coleman Key, running back Devon Thomas and linebacker Gyasi Akem.
