During the summer months, SoonerNation will take a closer look at each scholarship player on Oklahoma’s roster in our Crimson Countdown series. We'll analyze each player’s impact on the program since he arrived on campus, his potential impact this fall and his long-term impact. Starting with No. 1 Tony Jefferson, the daily series will go in numerical order until our final analysis of No. 98 Chuka Ndulue.
No. 82 Brannon Green
Tight end, 6-foot-4, 260 pounds
Impact so far: Green enrolled in January and should be a key contributor this fall.
He stepped on campus known for his blocking but impressed with his pass-catching ability during the spring. Make no mistake, blocking is his forté and he will likely be a key contributor in short yardage and red zone packages.
Impact in 2012: Green looks like he should get plenty of snaps at tight end for the Sooners, particularly in running situations. He also could provide a solid play-action pass option.
Impact in 2013 and beyond: The Sooners should get two quality years of production from Green, who appears to be a quality late addition to OU’s 2012 recruiting class.
