Every weekday morning, a member of the SoonerNation gives his take on three things happening in the Sooner sports world.
1. Oklahoma picked up its eighth commitment for the class of 2013 on Tuesday night when Miami (Fla.) Central defensive back Ahmad Thomas called assistant coach Mike Stoops and gave his verbal. The Sooners now have two commits from Florida for this class after signing four for the class of 2012. To put that into perspective, running back Roy Finch is the only current player on scholarship to hail from the Sunshine State. OU has several more offers out to recruits from Florida and it's clear the coaches are making that state a priority.
2. OU baseball coach Sunny Golloway, whose Sooners open the Big 12 tournament in an hour against Oklahoma State, told reporters Tuesday that he believes his team is a lock for the NCAA tournament. That's sort of unbelievable considering the state of the team just two weeks ago. ESPN.com's latest bracketology update has the Sooners in a regional in Eugene, Ore., along with No. 2 seed Oregon.
3. The coach of new OU receiver signee LaColtan Bester was nice enough to talk to our Bob Przybylo and fill in fans on what the Sooners' newest weapon brings to the team. East Mississippi Community College coach Buddy Stephens had many interesting things to say, but he was also realistic about Bester's impact on OU in 2012. Stephens said Bester needs time and reps at receiver. "He is going to make plays this season," Stephens said. "But you’re really going to see the tremendous strides going from his junior to senior year.
