Oklahoma commit Eric Striker (Seffner, Fla./Armwood) remembers what it felt like losing in the state championship by a field goal in the final seconds last season.
He’s trying to make sure that doesn’t happen again. Striker and Armwood took one more step toward making that happen with a 46-38 victory against Jacksonville (Fla.) Bartram Trail on Friday in a Florida Class 6A semifinal.
Striker, who has been a force throughout the Hawks’ playoff run, once again came up with a big play. He forced a fumble that was returned by junior Leon McQuay for a touchdown. Coincidentally, McQuay is a 2013 prospect that already has an offer from the Sooners, among several others.
“Like I said before, I’m going to leave it all out there,” Striker said. “There’s nothing to hold back at this point. We knew their offense was going to be tough. It was a good challenge.”
Striker is the sole OU commit to reach a state championship game this season. Armwood is going to play Miami (Fla.) Central at 1 p.m. ET Saturday at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando.
“This has been the goal ever since last season ended,” Striker said. “Now we just have to finish it.”
