Vitals: Punter Jed Barnett (Camas, Wash./Laney College) | 6-foot-2, 215 pounds
Committed: Nov. 26, 2012
ESPN.com grade: NR
ESPN.com rankings: NR
Picked OU over: Louisiana Tech, Stony Brook
State of the position: OU is searching for someone to replace Tress Way, who is leaving the program after four consecutive seasons as the Sooners' punter. He punted 250 times in 53 career games, averaging 44 yards per punt. He will not be easy to replace as he was taken for granted for the majority of his career.
Similar to/potential role: Way. Barnett is the favorite to replace Way as OU’s starting punter.
Expected impact: 2013. The Sooners wouldn’t have pursued Barnett if they didn’t expect him to make an impact this season.
