Oklahoma’s defense has played very well to open the 2012 season. The Sooners rank No. 12 nationally in total defense (284 yards per game) and No. 2 nationally in pass defense (123.67 ypg).

But defensive coordinator Mike Stoops is looking for more improvement from the Sooners.

“You need all 11 guys to play well each time you step on the field and each individual play,” Stoops said. “That’s what we are trying to build: Consistency in what we’re doing defensively.”

There are several aspects needing improvement on OU’s defense. The Sooners are tied for 55th in sacks (2 per game), No. 107 in tackles for loss (4.33 per game) and No. 66 in rush defense (160.33 ypg).
