Oklahoma is continuing its efforts to make inroads in recruiting Florida.
OU already has a verbal commit from safety Eric Striker (Seffner, Fla./Armwood), and the Sooners have made an offer to one of his teammates, 2013 safety Leon McQuay III, his father confirmed to SoonerNation.
McQuay, 6-foot-1 and 183 pounds, already has offers from Florida, Florida State, Ohio State and Notre Dame, and is on the ESPNU Watch List for 2013.
“He really knows the game, so it’s not surprising for Leon to be getting this attention,” Striker said. “He’s smart and physical. He would be a perfect fit.”
The offer to McQuay reaffirms OU’s confidence and growing influence in Florida. Striker is one of three Florida products committed to the Sooners. Joining Striker are tight end Laith Harlow (Tallahassee, Fla./Godby) and center Ty Darlington (Apopka, Fla./Apopka).
In the past, the Sooners also established a Nevada pipeline with Las Vegas Bishop Gorman that produced former running back DeMarco Murray, linebacker Ryan Reynolds and defensive end Justin Chaisson.
