Haney: OU’s Stoops under pressure in 2012
ESPN Insider's Travis Haney wrote on Tuesday about five head coaches under pressure to post big win totals in 2012. Here's what Haney wrote about Oklahoma's Bob Stoops:
Look, Stoops isn't going to lose his job. That's not the point here. But there is pressure, increasing by the year, for the school's eighth national title.
Stoops definitely didn't sidestep expectations a year ago, when he said it was "about time" that OU won another championship. He isn't saying anything of the sort this summer, but everyone's thinking it. It's an addition problem: Every year is another year removed from 2000.
Fair? Probably not, given Stoops' track record as an elite winner. But winning a title in year No. 2 had a way of convincing the fans that more were on the way. So it creates restlessness now, 12 years later.
What do you think?
