ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Offensive tackle Denzel Ward (Chicago/Hales Franciscan), a 2014 Michigan commitment, has made quite an impression at the Under Armour 2013 Combine.
The 6-foot-9, 295-pound prospect now has other schools in hot pursuit, and he is considering jumping back into the process.
"I am committed to Michigan, but I don't know what is going to happen," Ward said. "Our family might be opening the recruiting process soon. Some other schools may be coming in real hard.
"The University of Florida, Ohio State and Purdue are those schools."
The Buckeyes and Boilermakers already have offered. The Gators -- the offer he'd really like -- have not as yet.
"I really like Will Muschamp," he said. "He is a young, straight and direct and is bringing up the program. I really like the Florida tradition. I see that I have a chance to play early and the depth chart is good for me. I have offers from all those schools except Florida, so I want that one."
The priority for Ward is to find a place he fits while being afforded the opportunity to play as soon as possible. Whichever school presents that better than the others will have a leg up for his signature.
"I just want to see where I am going to fit in best and the place where I can play the earliest and can be comfortable," he said.
Ward continues to impress at the UA event. He has been to other camps, but nothing like this.
"It is pretty different than regular camps," Ward said . "There are just the top 150 guys trying to compete and get better."
