Mike McCray: TweetChat
By Tom VanHaaren
WolverineNation gave our twitter followers the opportunity to ask Michigan linebacker commit Mike McCray questions about his recruitment. The questions were tweeted @WolverineNation with the hashtag #AskMike, and the top questions were selected for McCray to answer.
Here are your questions and McCray's answers:
Q: @BHugh215: What number do you want to, or plan to, wear at Michigan?
|Mike McCray is eager to begin his college career at Michigan.|
McCray: I want to wear No. 9, but if I don't get that it really doesn't matter.
Q: @Kevhurst89: How much did your parents influence have on your decision to attend Michigan?
McCray: They had a lot of influence on the whole process. I talked to them most of the time about what I wanted to do. They were supportive and right behind me when I chose Michigan. They know it can give me a great education and good football experience.
Q: @TassiliB: Michigan is pretty deep at linebacker. Do you see yourself playing right away, or redshirting?
McCray: I haven't really thought about it. I'm going to compete and if the coaches see I should play, then I'll play. If they think they should redshirt me then that's what will happen.
Q: @Logan_Hukill: Did you get a lot of hate from Ohio State fans after committing to Michigan?
McCray: Kind of. A lot of it was on twitter and Facebook. People from where I live weren't really giving me problems, just congratulations but still joking around. Someone would say, "You know your dad went to Ohio State?" But it wasn't anything too bad.
Q: @AndrewWink - Did you ever consider Ohio State after they offered late?
McCray: I did a little bit, because growing up that was where I knew. That was the only school I knew about, it was kind of hard after they offered me. I knew Michigan was the place for me, though, and I didn't really care about the offer. On a scale from one to 10 it was probably a two or three. I didn't find the connection, I didn't have a connection to the coaches at Ohio State that I had at Michigan.
Q: @Markakellogg: In your recruiting process what convinced you that Michigan was the school you wanted to attend?
McCray: Michigan had everything I wanted, everything I was looking for. Some schools didn't have everything, and Michigan has the academics, the family oriented program, tradition, winning. A lot of things, and it wasn't too far from home. It was the best place for me.
Q: @Kevhurst89 - How did the facilities at Michigan compare to other schools recruiting you?
McCray: Probably the best facilities I've seen were Tennessee, Michigan was the second best. I really like everything at Michigan, it's all right next to each other. Tennessee was building a new weight room, they were adding on to the indoor facility so it was nice.
Q: @andrewwink: Have you been able to get your dad to wear Michigan gear yet?
McCray: He wears a Michigan hat almost every day. He has a couple shirts, too. It will be fun to mess with him.
