Michigan offers Illini verbal Reon Dawson
By Jared Shanker
Trotwood-Madison (Trotwood, Ohio) has been kind to Michigan in the past and in the 2013 class, and the Wolverines coaches are hoping to mine the high school hotbed one more time.
Michigan sent out an offer to safety Reon Dawson on Monday, Dawson reported. The coaches called him Monday during lunch to let him know of the offer.
"Length and speed," the 6-foot-1 Dawson wrote in a text as to what the coaches told him was the reason they offered.
Dawson unofficially visited Michigan in November, and his teammate Mike McCray is committed to the Wolverines. McCray is already working on getting Dawson to join him in Ann Arbor, Dawson said, and Dawson said he will talk with McCray about the offer soon.
Dawson committed to Illinois and has been since the end of May. He remains committed despite the new offer. He has an official visit to Illinois set for the weekend of Dec. 14. Illinois will make an in-home visit Tuesday and Michigan is scheduled to visit later this week.
"As of right [now] im still fully committed to illinois," Dawson wrote.
Michigan recently lost a commitment from ESPN 150 defensive back Gareon Conley (Massillon, Ohio/Washington).
