Michigan enters the mix for OT Kenny Lacy
By Erik McKinney
Offensive tackle Kenny Lacy (Phoenix, Ariz./Mountain Pointe) committed to the UCLA Bruins after an official visit in early September, but that hasn't stopped other programs from chasing the 6-foot-5, 260-pound tackle.
The latest school to show increased interest in Lacy is Michigan, as Wolverines offensive line coach Darrell Funk extended an offer while at Mountain Pointe on Tuesday. The magnitude of the offer was not lost on Lacy.
"That's a big-time school with great tradition and great academics," Lacy said. "I'm going to give them a serious look."
Lacy took an official visit to Nebraska earlier this year and has talked about a possible to trip to Vanderbilt sometime in January.
That is keeping in line with Lacy's plan since his commitment to UCLA. He told the Bruins coaching staff that he would continue to take visits, although there is a steep hill for every other program to climb.
"I'm definitely committed to UCLA," Lacy said. "The coaches there know that I'm going to finish taking my trips, but it's going to take a lot to flip it."
Lacy has an official visit to Kansas State scheduled for Dec. 7, and will then host Coach Funk on an in-home visit sometime next week before he travels to Michigan for an official visit on Dec. 14.
"I just want to go up there and see how I fit in," Lacy said of trips to Kansas State and Michigan. "I want to see if it's somewhere I can see myself playing."
