Those who left: The 2008, 2009 classes

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Michigan’s 2008 and 2009 classes saw a massive amount of shift during their time in Ann Arbor, from the coaching staff to the members of their team.

Here’s a quick look at the 20 players from those classes who did not finish their eligibility with Michigan and, in many cases, where they ended up.

Darryl Stonum was dismissed from the U-M football team in 2011.
Class of 2008:

CB Boubacar Cissoko: Dismissed from Michigan’s football team in 2010, spent time in prison after pleading guilty to robbery charges the same year. He has since been released from prison and gone on to play for the Chicago Rush of the Arena Football League. He played in six games last season, making 19 tackles, two interceptions and a pass breakup.

RB Mike Cox: Left Michigan after the 2011 season to play his final year at Massachusetts, where he is the Minutemen’s leading rusher with 168 carries for 618 yards and three touchdowns. He has also caught 11 passes for 59 yards.

QB/WR Justin Feagin: Was dismissed from the Michigan football team in 2009 after being involved in a failed drug deal. He ended up at Division II Glenville State, where he caught 17 passes for 120 yards this season along with completing 49 of 109 passes for 643 yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions and rushing for 195 yards and a touchdown.

LB Taylor Hill: Left Michigan before playing a game in 2008 and transferred to Youngstown State, where had a team high 65 tackles in 2009 as freshman. He redshirted in 2010 and according to the Youngstown Vindicator, left the team prior to the 2011 season.

C Rocko Khoury: Chose not to play his final season of eligibility with the Wolverines after the 2011 season. Received his degree.

RB Sam McGuffie: Transferred to Rice after the 2008 season. With the Owls, he has rushed 240 times for 1,057 yards and seven touchdowns while catching 89 passes for 919 yards and nine touchdowns in his three years with the Owls.

C George Morales: Left Michigan after the 2011 season with one year of eligibility remaining.

OL Dann O’Neill: Transferred to Western Michigan after the 2008 season. He has been a three year starter for the Broncos on the offensive line.

WR Terrence Robinson: Left Michigan after the 2011 season with one year of eligibility remaining.

LB/S Brandon Smith: Transferred from Michigan to Temple after the 2009 season. He ended up at LA Pierce Junior College in California, where he had 13 catches for 220 yards and two touchdowns in three games in 2011 as a receiver. Now at Division III Rowan in New Jersey, Smith has eight catches for 61 yards this season.

WR Darryl Stonum: Was dismissed from Michigan’s football team in 2012. Transferred to Baylor, where he has caught three passes for 51 yards and one touchdown along with returning eight kicks for 153 yards.

QB Steven Threet: Transferred to Michigan from Georgia Tech and then transferred from the Wolverines to Arizona State. Threet started for the Sun Devils for most of 2010, completing 208 of 336 passes for 2,534 yards, 18 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. He retired after the 2010 season due to concussions.

OL Kurt Wermers: Left Michigan prior to the 2009 season. Colleague Adam Rittenberg reported he was academically ineligible for the 2009 season at the time of his departure.

Class of 2009:

LB Isaiah Bell: Transferred prior to spring football in 2012 to Division II Lake Erie College. He has made seven tackles this season and forced one fumble.

S Vladimir Emilien: Left Michigan after one game of the 2010 season. Initially planning on transferring to Colorado, he ended up at Toledo, where he has been playing linebacker this season. He has made 32 tackles, defended two passes, broke up a pass and has an interception in seven games for the Rockets.

QB Tate Forcier: Michigan’s starting quarterback as a freshman, he left Michigan after the 2010 season and eventually ended up at San Jose State. He left there after a year and then tried out for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League. He was cut before the season started.

RB Teric Jones: Career ended due to injury.

DE Anthony LaLota: Transferred to Rutgers and eventually gave up football. A Rutgers database of students has him listed as enrolled at the school.

WR Je’Ron Stokes: Transferred prior to the 2011 season to Bowling Green. This season he has caught 14 passes for 114 yards and a touchdown.

CB Justin Turner: Transferred from Michigan prior to the 2010 season. He was on the roster at Scottsdale Community College in Arizona in 2011 and then appeared to be headed to Hawaii for this season. The Honolulu Star Advertiser reported Turner did not meet all of the transfer requirements, though, and he is not on the roster.
