RB Green eager to see game atmosphere

By Tom VanHaaren

Running back Derrick Green (Richmond, Va./Hermitage) will be one of the biggest visitors on campus for Michigan on Saturday. The four-star is the No. 6 back in the country and will be in Ann Arbor for the second time this year, this time to see what Michigan has to offer on game day.

"I think the game atmosphere is the biggest thing for me," he said. "I just want to see how they do it on game day and what they do pregame. I want to see that in person and what they have to offer up close."

Derrick Green is returning to Ann Arbor for the first time since the BBQ at the Big House.
Green says he's expecting it to be loud and crazy in the Big House, and understands this rivalry is one of the biggest games of the year for the Wolverines. He has been in contact with some of the Michigan commits about what to expect and what it might be like with 110,000 screaming fans.

"Kyle Bosch, Shane Morris and Logan Tuley-Tillman have all been in contact with me," he said. "They're just excited to get me up there for game day. They're not really doing recruiting, but just saying that they're excited, which has me excited, too."

Green had established a good friendship with former Michigan commit David Dawson (Detroit/Cass Tech), but he says Dawson's departure from Michigan's class will have no effect on his recruitment.

He will be traveling with his parents, who were also with him at the BBQ at the Big House over the summer, and all are hoping to spend some quality time with the coaching staff. The family doesn't have specific questions for the coaches but would like a chance to get to know them better.

"I talk to Coach [Fred] Jackson the most because he's my recruiter. I want to get up there and sit down with Coach [Brady] Hoke again," he said. "I got a chance to talk to him at the BBQ, but not enough. I know my mom wants to speak with Coach Hoke, too. We just want to get to sit down with them and feel comfortable."

Green is planning on taking all of his official visits and has trips to Auburn, Oregon and Ole Miss set up after Michigan. He isn't sure when a decision will come, but isn't ruling out pulling the trigger if he gets that feeling on any of his visits.

"We just have to see what happens. Maybe I'll make a decision, maybe not," he said. "After the game if it's the place for me, I'll do it. That's with any of the schools I visit, so we'll see."
