Top 12 Prospects - No. 5

By WolverineNation staff

There are roughly eight spots left in Michigan's 2013 class, and there are still a few needs to fill. Some of the top prospects in the nation are still considering Michigan, and it would be tough to turn away those kinds of recruits. So WolverineNation will rank the top 12 uncommitted prospects for Michigan based on need and want leading up to the spring game.

No. 5

Tashawn Bower
Interest in DE Tashawn Bower has picked up steam.
Tom's pick: LB E.J. Levenberry Jr. (Woodbridge, Va./C.D. Hylton)

Levenberry is a big-time prospect and someone that you just can't pass up. Michigan doesn't have a strong need at linebacker, but Levenberry is one of the more talented, and athletic 'backers in this class. He still needs some work technique-wise, and a lot of times makes plays off his pure athletic ability. Levenberry will be visiting Michigan on April 14 for the spring game and has said openly there is a chance he could commit. Florida State has always been in the picture and remains there, so it will be interesting to see what actually plays out on his visit. If Michigan were able to land him it could help catapult this class into ridiculousness. With Mike McCray (Trotwood, Ohio/Trotwood-Madison) already committed and Ben Gedeon (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) still in the picture, Michigan has a chance to land another top linebacker haul in 2013.

Chantel's pick: DE Tashawn Bower (Somerville, NJ/Immaculata)

With Greg Webb choosing Penn State, the Wolverines lost out on a very talented defensive line prospect. The next best option (and he's not that far behind Webb,) would be Bower. He has the ability to play at multiple spots on the line, which is good for everyone involved. He runs a 4.89 in the 40-yard dash which is good for a guy of his size (6-foot-5, 230 pounds). While Michigan doesn't desperately need another strongside defensive end, Bower would be a great addition to the 2013 class.

Readers' pick: LB E.J. Levenberry Jr. (Woodbridge, Va./C.D. Hylton)

gdavis23: Extremely talented true inside linebacker. While you can convert others to play this position having a true inside linebacker to step into Kenny Demens' spot after he leaves will be a godsend.

bobhenry97: Icing on the cake for our two-year LB haul.

umdetroitfam: When the coaches tell other high four-star prospects that they are full at a position but are saving a spot for you, this means you are probably pretty damn good.

Grahamalish1000: Guy is a beast all the way around and I figure if the coaches are going to hold a spot for him then I want him on my team.  His highlight videos are sick, too.

GStylez99: Although Michigan has done very well recruiting the linebacker position the last couple cycles, Levenberry appears to be a prospect that could be a defensive All-American in the future.  Michigan is in a very good position with him, and the coaching staff has a good relationship with his family.
