Top 12 Prospect Countdown - No. 9

By WolverineNation staff

There are roughly eight spots left in Michigan's 2013 class, and there are still a few needs to fill. Some of the top prospects in the nation are still considering Michigan, and it would be tough to turn away those kinds of recruits. So WolverineNation will rank the top 12 uncommitted prospects for Michigan based on need and want leading up to the spring game.

No. 9
Ben Gedeon
WN readers believe Ben Gedeon is a prototype Big Ten linebacker.
Tom's pick: LB Ben Gedeon (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson)

Michigan's linebacker haul in the 2012 class was very impressive, landing four top prospects in that class. With linebacker Mike McCray already committed in the 2013 class, adding any other linebackers is a bonus for Michigan at this point. Gedeon has been on the Michigan radar for quite some time though, and for good reason. At 6-foot-2, 210 pounds, Gedeon has good size, a ton of athleticism and could be the kind of guy that comes in and competes at a few different spots. His versatility and playmaking ability are something you can't pass up, and he would provide good competition among the young linebackers.

Chantel’s pick: DE Joey Bosa (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas)

Will Michigan get Bosa? I don't know about that. He seems like a longer shot for the coaching staff. But if the Wolverines landed him, would it be huge? Yes. Just, yes. There's going to be a lot of turnover in the defensive line over the next two seasons and the 2012 class did a pretty good job addressing needs, but you don't find players that will fill Mike Martin, Ryan Van Bergen and Will Heininger's production in just a season. And next season they'll lose Craig Roh and Will Campbell. Bosa would have the opportunity to be an immediate impact player, and I think he could. Whether he comes north, well, that's up to him. But Michigan should try. It has been unseasonably warm this year, maybe Greg Mattison could use that in his recruiting pitch.

Readers’ pick: Gedeon

PhillyPhil3 -- Solid top 200 prospect, and one of Team 134's first offers.

m1muller -- All-around Midwest linebacker.

28garrett44 -- High motor, great talent.

Gstylez99 -- I would have Gedeon rated higher if Michigan didn't already have so many linebackers recruited. Gedeon is very talented and would be a beast next to E.J. Levenberry and Mike McCray.

humphril -- A high motor, relentless, fast and intelligent linebacker.

ironlip54 -- With all the talented linebackers Michigan turned away, I hope we get him. Reminds me of one of those tough, old school-type linebackers.

michfan207 -- This guy is a typical hard-hitting Big Ten linebacker.

dvdhplee -- Inside linebacker, hits like a ton of bricks. If this was a position of need he could've been No. 1. I would not be surprised when all is said and done if he turns out to be the best of Michigan's 2013 recruits.

ryan75342 -- He is a kid from Ohio who has really liked Michigan all along. He really gets after it from the linebacker position, and punishes other players.

gadler12378 -- Would be higher if last year's class wasn't so big. Really like this kid. His school is the only one I live near.
