Another from SEC offers 2015 CB Taylor
By Dave Hooker
Garrett Taylor (Richmond, Va./St. Christopher's) has yet another scholarship offer from the SEC.
Vanderbilt is the latest school from the conference to offer a scholarship to the sophomore cornerback. Tennessee, Kentucky and Ole Miss have already extended scholarships to the 2015 prospect. Alabama has shown strong interest, and Vandy joined the club.
"I think they are an up-and-coming team in the SEC, especially after what they did last season," Taylor said referring the Commodores' second consecutive winning season.
Taylor is being recruited to Vanderbilt by defensive coordinator and safeties coach Bob Shoop. He seems to have an advantage by being in the conference that's won the last seven national championships.
"I feel like playing in the SEC is pretty important because that's when you're playing against the best of the best, week in and week out," the 6-foot-1, 187-pound prospect said.
When asked what other schools are pursuing him, Taylor said, "I'd say Michigan is showing strong interest and so is Alabama."
Taylor is scheduled to visit Virginia Tech on April 6 and Alabama on April. Despite his interest in the SEC, Taylor is being pursued by several nearby schools, including Tech, Virginia and North Carolina. Taylor has also spoken highly of Iowa defensive assistant coach Jim Reid, who recruited Taylor when he was an assistant coach at Virginia.
