Devon Allen (Phoenix/Brophy Prep) knows it’s time to start narrowing things down.
The three-star receiver has trimmed his list of favorite schools down to 15, and he plans to take five unofficial visits later this month.
Allen told HornsNation his top 15 are, in no particular order: Arkansas, Arizona State, California, LSU, Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Stanford, Texas, UCLA, USC and Washington.
The 6-foot, 187-pound speedster had many more offers than that, but he felt he needed to begin reducing the number of options he’ll consider.
“I’m just trying to find out where I want to go and narrow my list down,” Allen said. “I narrowed it down to 15, and I’ve got to keep working on it in the next couple months.”
He’ll get a better sense of who’s near the top of the list by the end of July.
Allen said he’ll take unofficial visits to Cal and Stanford next weekend and is planning a trip to the Midwest to hit Ohio State, Michigan and Notre Dame the following weekend.
“I think after these five visits I should be able to trim it down again,” he said. “If I like a school a lot, they’ll stay on the list. If not, I’ll see what else is a good fit for me.”
He said Arkansas, Washington, Arizona State and Michigan are four schools that have recruited him harder than most, but he doesn’t have any favorites so far.
Allen is ranked 15th among prospects in the state of Arizona. As a junior, he caught 44 passes for 844 yards and 14 touchdowns for Brophy Prep.
