Senior safety Jordan Kovacs has been named one of 42 football players to be named to the 2012 Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch list.
The IMPACT award is given to a defensive player who "best exemplifies integrity, maturity, performance, academics, community and tenacity. It is the only award that recognizes both a player’s athletic performance and personal character attributes," according to a press release from the University of Michigan.
Of the 42 players on the watch list, 18 are linebackers, 13 are defensive backs and 11 are defensive linemen. Voting will happen and cuts will be made throughout the season, with the final award ceremony being held Dec. 9 in Newport Beach, Calif.
Kovacs was a quarterfinalist for the award in 2011.
