TE Orndoff decommits from Wisconsin

2/29/2012

Despite having two tight ends committed already, it seems as though Michigan would be interested in a third tight end in this class if it were the right prospect.

Tight end Scott Orndoff (Pittsburgh/Seton-La Salle) was previously committed to Wisconsin, but decided on Wednesday to decommit from the Badgers and the Michigan staff has been in contact with him.

"I just wanted to be able to take the options I have and make sure I make the right decision," he said. "I'm still considering Wisconsin, and I'll be going up there for their spring game."

Orndoff said he would ideally like to have his final commitment in place before his football season starts, but would take more time if it doesn't feel right. Now that he reopened his recruitment, he would like to see what Michigan has to offer.

"We have a visit planned (to Michigan) for March 17," he said. "I just want to see the facilities, take a tour of campus and just see what Michigan football is all about."

Orndoff has had interest in Michigan since the Wolverines offered him and says the tradition they provide is an outstanding factor. He has noticed the success Michigan has had on the recruiting trail for the Class of 2013, and it could eventually help the Wolverines in their pursuit of Orndoff.

"With all the commits they have it's a good sign for their program," he said. "It definitely makes me more interested because of the talent they're getting. After I visit, if I like it I'll put them on my top list."
