2013 wide receiver Laquon Treadwell (Crete, Ill./Crete-Monee) had been hoping for a Michigan offer since his recruitment had started. Tuesday night he received the phone call he had been waiting for.
"(Michigan defensive line coach) Jerry Montgomery just called me and said they were proud to offer me a full ride to Michigan," Treadwell said. "I was speechless. I'm going to visit up there for the homecoming game."
That visit will come on Oct. 29 when the Wolverines take on Purdue.
Treadwell's teammate, Anthony Standifer, is already committed to Michigan for the 2012 class, and their friendship could help sway Treadwell to the Wolverines. Add in the fact Michigan is Treadwell's first offer, and the Wolverines have positioned themselves well.
Treadwell said he plans on taking a step back and looking at his options to make the right decision. He will bring his mother with him on the next visit to Michigan to make sure mom likes what Michigan has to offer.
If both end up seeing the positives in Ann Arbor, it could end up being a faster decision for Treadwell than anticipated.
