ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- After a week when No. 19 Michigan was dominated on both offense and defense, the Wolverines needed to show improvement against Air Force.

So far there has been some improvement, but still some concerns as Michigan entered halftime with a 14-10 lead on the Falcons.

Stat of the half: Air Force's fast attack is helped, in part, by how many players the Falcons will use to carry the ball. Seven players ran the ball for Air Force in the first half, gaining 155 yards. That's about average, at least yardage-wise, for Air Force, but the Falcons have been getting to the second level well. Michigan senior safety Jordan Kovacs, redshirt sophomore linebacker Jake Ryan and senior linebacker Kenny Demens all had seven tackles for Michigan.

Player of the half: Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson. The senior rebounded heavily from a rough performance against Alabama, completing 9 of 13 passes for 136 yards and a touchdown. He also had 110 yards rushing for another score. As he has been many times in his career, Robinson was the majority of Michigan's offense.

What’s working for Michigan: A lot. Robinson has been accurate and run the ball well. He has been effective in every way and showed more patience than usual. Also made better reads than normal. The interception wasn't Robinson's fault, as it hit off the hands of running back Vincent Smith before being picked off.

What’s not working for Michigan: Michigan struggled defending Air Force's high-tempo, wishbone offense, allowing three long drives with two three-and-outs in the middle of the second quarter. Michigan is also struggling to get any running game going other than Robinson, as starting running back Fitzgerald Toussaint only gained seven yards on six carries.
