Hits from Sunday's Sugar Bowl teleconference

December, 5, 2011
The first official media availability for the Allstate Sugar Bowl between Michigan and Virginia Tech occurred Sunday evening with Hokies coach Frank Beamer, Wolverines coach Brady Hoke and Sugar Bowl CEO Paul Hoolahan.

Here are the two stories from last night with coaching reaction and player reaction.

What else you might have missed? That's right here in convenient bullet form:

  • Hoke has never met Beamer, which isn't surprising since they have never really been in the same coaching circles. Hoke has been in the Midwest or West Coast for much of his coaching career. Beamer is a Virginia Tech stalwart.
  • Hoke on the spotlight this game puts on Michigan: "I think our guys have done a great job of staying pretty steady and being consistent. And it's a great reward for our players and what they've achieved and how they've played and how they've represented the University of Michigan all year long. So it's going to be fun. But like everyone else, you don't want to lose that last football game that you play. So you want to go out and work hard and do the things as a team that we need to do to prepare to go win a bowl game."
