The neck injury suffered by true freshman defensive tackle Ondre Pipkins on Friday is more bad news for a unit that already was facing questions heading into the season.
The defensive line lost three starters from last season to graduation, and true freshman defensive end Chris Wormley was lost for the season on Tuesday with an ACL tear.
As of late Friday morning, the extent of Pipkins' injury had not been revealed. What was known was that when he was taken to the hospital, Pipkins had movement in all of his extremities and that the hospital visit was for "precautionary reasons and evaluation," according to a news release.
Washington is the more experienced of the two, though neither has played extensively. Washington tallied just one tackle in nine games last season. Ash appeared in just three games for the Wolverines last season, though he never registered a sack or tackle.
