Name: Gelen Robinson
Position: Defensive end (Michigan recruitment), linebacker and tight end (high school)
Current height/weight: 6-foot-2, 230 pounds
What are your strengths at defensive end: My speed and ability to get off the ball faster than most linemen.
What do you need to improve on: I'm always trying to improve on the small things, just the small technical things. I'm always trying to get faster and being able to play any position they need me at on the field.
Current top list: Purdue, Notre Dame, Michigan, Illinois (in no specific order)
Favorite school growing up: Growing up, that's hard to say. Since my dad went to Purdue for basketball, I'd say they were my favorite basketball school. And growing up I didn't really watch a lot of college football, but when I did I heard the big names like Notre Dame and Michigan. They were probably the football schools I favored most.
Decision timeline: I will probably just wait until it feels right. It all depends on who offers me. If one of those top schools offers me pretty early, I'll definitely take my time and think I through. But, I think it'll just be when it feels right.
Visits taken: Purdue, Michigan, Notre Dame, Illinois
Visits planned: I haven't planned any out yet, but I'll definitely try to get out to some schools this fall.
What defense fits you best: The defense I know the best is a 3-4, but my coach switches our defense to a 4-4 sometimes, so I'm completely comfortable with both.
Top three aspects of a program: 1.) Academics 2.) All-around welcome to the school, not just the field 3.) How the coaching staff and players interact with each other
What makes you an FBS level prospect: I think I'm able to stick with the top prospects of 2014, physically. I just feel like I compete well with those guys.
What Olympic event would you excel at? Shot ut or discus. I broke both the school records for those. Discus: 181 feet. Shotput: 56 feet, 7 inches.
Which Olympic sport has been your guilty pleasure? Beach volleyball
Who's your favorite Olympian? Beach volleyball player Jake Gibb. He fought through cancer and came back and competed for our country. That's amazing.
