Ferns calls U-M pledge 'easy decision'

It took a few days, but Michigan’s Big House BBQ has paid off for the Wolverines once again in the form of its first 2014 commitment. Linebacker Michael Ferns (St. Clairsville, Ohio/St. Clairsville) committed to Michigan on Wednesday but wanted to make sure he had all his ducks in a row before coming public about it on Thursday night.

“We were finding out how I could graduate early, and that I have to take two senior classes,” he said. “I have to take two senior classes and that scheduling is done, so we decided we would make the decision and put it out there.”

Ferns is undoubtedly one of the top prospects in the Midwest in his class. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound linebacker already has offers from Boston College, Illinois, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State and Oklahoma, among others.
