Michigan already has one gymnast heading to London for this summer's Olympic games, Syque Caesar representing Bangladesh. Now, he is close to having a Wolverines teammate joining him.

Sam Mikulak, a junior at Michigan, made an impression after the first day of the United States men's gymnastics Olympic trials. He is sitting in third place in the overall competition, which combines the VISA Championships and the trials, and has put himself in contention to make the USA team.

Michelle Smith of ESPNW is in San Jose for the trials and caught up with Mikulak on Thursday night after his big performance.
