RB Green keeps Michigan 'in mix'

6/15/2012

One of the targets left on Michigan's shrinking board is running back Derrick Green (Richmond, Va./Hermitage), who says the Wolverines are still in play.

"I haven't narrowed anything down yet," he said. "Michigan is definitely in the mix. That's a school I would like to get out to this summer to sit down with the head coach, and maybe for a game."

With 21 commitments, Michigan has essentially narrowed the focus to Green and Jordan Wilkins (Cordova, Tenn./St. Benedict). Green, the No. 6 running back in the country, says he doesn't know exactly what visits he will take this summer, but does have a few scheduled already.

"I'm going out to Alabama, Auburn and Ole Miss in July," he said. "I'm going to try to get out to Oregon and Oklahoma State, but I'm not sure yet."

Green is 5-foot-11, 235 pounds, so he isn't exactly a LaMichael James clone. Despite his style of play the Oregon coaches have told him they will work him into the offense, which has him intrigued.

Oregon seems to be in the picture for Green, but as he said he hasn't narrowed anything down just yet. He plans on taking his time, and isn't sure when he will be ready to make a decision.

"I'm going to take my official visits and then make a decision," he said. "I'm not really sure when it will happen. I don't know when I'm going to narrow my list, either; I need to sit down with my coach and parents and talk about it."
