Top 12 Prospects - No. 6

4/9/2012

There are roughly eight spots left in Michigan's 2013 class, and there are still a few needs to fill. Some of the top prospects in the nation are still considering Michigan, and it would be tough to turn away those kinds of recruits. So WolverineNation will rank the top 12 uncommitted prospects for Michigan based on need and want leading up to the spring game.

No. 6

Tom's pick: DT Eddie Vanderdoes (Auburn, Calif./Placer)

With the athleticism, talent and size that Vanderdoes brings to the table, he would be a big pickup for the Wolverines. He's listed at 6-foot-3, 285 pounds, which could help Michigan fill a hole in the middle of the defensive line. His offer list reflects the type of prospect he is with Arkansas, Cal, UCLA, Georgia, Notre Dame, Michigan, Alabama, Oregon and Oklahoma, among others. Having defensive end Taco Charlton committed at the weakside spot has already given Michigan a boost in speed and athleticism for the future. If Vanderdoes were to come on board he would only add to that, and give the coaching staff a lot of talent along the line in the coming years. That being said, it might be difficult to pull Vanderdoes from the West Coast, so we won't get too ahead of ourselves yet.

Chantel’s pick: S Su'a Cravens (Murrieta, Calif./Vista Murrieta)

The Wolverines' only safety commit in the 2013 class so far is Dymonte Thomas, and they'll want to pick up a second to really solidify this class. Cravens would be the preferable safety for that. In high school Cravens has played everything from cornerback to safety to running back to linebacker. He's a game changer and has the size that Greg Mattison is looking for in his secondary. If Michigan could pick up Cravens, it would have great competition at the safety position among just the 2012 and 2013 classes (early enrollee Jarrod Wilson, Thomas and Cravens).

Readers' pick: CB Kendall Fuller (Olney, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel)

gdavis23: Having elite corners on the depth chart able to step in and contribute at any time will raise any team. Kendall Fuller brings in great speed and size. He could easily become one of the next great corners at Michigan.

jfsbears: We need the top corners to want to come to Michigan to be the next Woodson. Also school influence. Again no slight to our current DB haul.

ThatguyKai: Once again, he fits what the coaches are looking for at his position. Bigger than average CB, with the perk of coming from GC.

dvdhplee: Top CB would allow Mattison to play him on an island and pull tricks out of his bag with the rest of the defense.

Ironlip54: The best pure cover corner on the board. I also think he would be a great pickup just because of his high ranking. I think pulling players like him sends a message to other prospects.
