Former Michigan hockey goaltender Shawn Hunwick will be suiting up with the Columbus Blue Jackets against the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday night according to Todd Sharrock, Vice President of Public Relations for the Blue Jackets.

"We signed Shawn to an amateur tryout contract," Sharrock told ESPN.com. "He'll come, he'll sign the contract, he'll back up tonight and then we'll see."

Starting goalie Steve Mason was hit in the mask with a puck during the Blue Jackets' morning skate on Wednesday and Hunwick was contacted sometime after. Backup Allen York will be starting tonight against the Red Wings, and Hunwick will be York's backup.
